Pain Stricken like Grieving

Do you remember

The Day you found out

your good friend died?

You were too hurt to cry

you were too hurt to acknowlede the occurrence of the event

Too hurt to breath.

Do you remember how sahameful you were feeling?

How you lacked words

Shutting down like it was your life that had just ended

Remember how that felt

and you grappled with that pain

while it became your excuse

your reason for blame

using words freshly thawed like casualty

as fresh as your rational

Can you remember how shamefully

you felt struggling with grief?

and you were slowly beginning to realize

how unfamiliar you were with grieving

was it a process, or an event?

Do you remember

The day you found out

your good friend died?

How guilty with pain and memories you were

That no matter how you flashed your pretentious armor

there was no protection for your

sinking heavy heart

exposed and suseptible

I remember ...

Don’t know if I have ever grieved.

Unless it’s ok to mask, them I have fully

achieved the goal of grieving --

pain strcken usually more than

anything else I can remember

It’s often whi I ask “do you remember?"

I know I have masked the pain for so many things

that there really is no comfort to

Remembering

But I try
